Refunds & cancellation
Cancel whenever you like, from your own billing portal, without asking. Cancelling stops the next charge and you keep the month you have already paid for. We do not refund a month once it has started.

01How to cancel
Open the billing portal, enter the email address you paid with, and Stripe will email you a one-time link. Cancel from there. It takes about a minute, there is no form to fill in, nothing to justify, and no conversation to have first unless you want one.
Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Nothing further is charged, and until that date the subscription carries on exactly as before — you do not lose access the moment you press the button.
02Pausing instead
The same portal can pause the subscription rather than end it. Billing stops while it is paused and picks up when you resume, which is the better option if you are between projects rather than finished.
03If you only want one month
That works, and it is a supported way to buy: subscribe, then cancel straight away. Cancelling now still leaves the whole paid month in front of you, and nothing renews.
Do it on the day you subscribe rather than at the end of the month. A cancellation you meant to make and forgot becomes a charge, and the section below is what happens then.
04Refunds
A month that has started is not refundable. The subscription is paid in advance and the capacity for that month is reserved for you when it begins, so an unused month is not an unspent one.
There are two situations where we will refund anyway, and you do not have to argue for either:
- You were charged for a month you had meant to cancel and had not used. Email us and we will refund it — this is the one mistake the cancel-at-period-end setup makes easy to make, so it would be poor form to profit from it.
- We could not deliver — we ended the arrangement, or were unavailable for a substantial part of the month. Then you get back the part you did not receive.
Either way, email hello@cottam.design. Refunds go back to the card that paid, usually within five to ten business days once issued, and how quickly it appears is then between you and your bank.
05Before you dispute a charge
Email us first. A chargeback takes weeks, costs both sides a fee, and an email gets the same money back faster in every case where you are owed it. We would rather refund you than win an argument with your bank.
